Toyoda FA630 with Fanuc Control 16-M (with 120 Tool Magazine): Procedure for Re-zero of Magazine Using MC1K-P Hand-held
Attention: Please read the Terms of Use for this site before proceeding.
This is a procedure for resetting the home position (zero-position) on a 120 tool magazine on a Toyoda FA630 horizontal machining center with a Fanuc Control 16-M. The magazine motion is controlled by an MG-U amplifier (6AMP1). You will need the handheld programmer that came with the machine in order to proceed.
In order to do the following procedure the magazine must be aligned perfectly to the ATC point. If the magazine stops between the pockets, you will have to either use MAGAZINE JOG mode to get it to the correct point, or use the following procedure with values that will get a pocket aligned (any pocket). I can proceed if any pocket is aligned to the ATC point since I know what the position display is supposed to be at any pocket using the chart in the electrical book.
For example, for the FA630 with 120T magazine, the PNOW position at pocket #1 is 0000. For pocket #2 it is 3000. For pocket #3, it’s 6000. So the pitch is 3000 between pockets. If the magazine is stopping between pockets, I will have to enter a value into P800 (this may take several attempts) that will result in correct alignment to the ATC point and then do the procedure again to set P800 to 0000 when pocket # 1 is aligned to the ATC point. If I can adjust P800 so that pocket # 3 is aligned to the ATC point perfectly, I can then set P800 to 6000, thereby telling it that PNOW is 6000 or the pocket #3 location. I can then index to pocket # 1 and reset P800 to 0000.
The lowest number pocket (some machines this will be pocket #0, some will be pocket #1) should be stopped at the ATC point and aligned perfectly, then P800 is set to 0000.
At the machine operator panel:
Put machine in JOG mode
Press the WINDOW button
Press the blue icon on the WINDOW menu (looks like a wrench)
Press the MG-U Edit touch button on the screen. The GREEN indicator dot will turn on
At the machine electrical cabinet:
Locate the MC1K-P hand-held controller
Plug in the MC1K-P controller into MG-U 6AMP1 amplifier at CN1 connector
Display will say “MONITOR NORMAL U”
Press the [MTR/EDIT/SHIFT] key (upper RH)
Display will say “SETTING NORMAL U”
Press the [PARAM] key (#2 key)
Press the [KEY/UD SHIFT] key (upper LH)
Display will say “SETTING NORMAL D”
Cursor will be on the LH set of numbers. Enter “8,0,0” for parameter 800
Press the [SET] key (lower RH)
Display will show parameter 800 and the current value
Press [SET] key repeatedly, until value is all zeros
Enter the new value for P800. This will be 0000 for the 120 tool magazine if the magazine has indexed pocket#1 to the ATC point. It would be 3000 if pocket#2 were at the change point. This may vary for your machine based on the machine and magazine type. Check the parameter settings in the electrical book to see the values for each pocket.
Press the [SET] key again (lower RH) to enter the new value for P800
Press the [KEY/UD/SHIFT] key (upper LH). Display should change back to “SETTING NORMAL U”
Press the [MTR/EDIT/SHIFT] key (upper RH). Display should change back to “MONITOR NORMAL U”
Press the [POSITION] key (#7 key). The PNOW display should show the same number you just entered in P800
Back at the machine operator panel:
Press the MG-U Edit touch button on the screen. The GREEN indicator dot will turn off
Press “X” on the WINDOW menu bar to exit the WINDOW function
Press “RESET” on the operator panel
